Discover Quiero Restaurants

Walking into Quiero Restaurants feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that already knows you. The location at 805 Ocean Ln, Imperial Beach, CA 91932, United States sits just far enough from the shoreline to feel local, yet close enough that the ocean breeze sneaks in when the door opens. I stopped by on a weekday afternoon after a long walk near the pier, and the relaxed energy immediately set the tone. No rush, no pressure-just people enjoying good food and easy conversation.

The menu leans into comfort food with personality. Instead of overwhelming you with endless options, it focuses on dishes that are clearly tested, tweaked, and loved. On my visit, I watched the kitchen move with quiet efficiency. Orders were called, plates came together smoothly, and nothing felt rushed. That kind of flow usually comes from repetition and care, not shortcuts. According to industry data from the National Restaurant Association, restaurants that limit menu size often see better consistency and higher customer satisfaction, and that idea plays out here in a very real way.

One thing that stood out was how ingredients were handled. Fresh produce wasn’t just listed; you could taste it. The vegetables had crunch, the sauces felt balanced, and nothing was drowned in salt. I asked the server how they keep flavors consistent, and she mentioned a simple daily prep routine where sauces and marinades are made in small batches. That method lines up with best practices often recommended by culinary institutes, which emphasize freshness and controlled preparation over bulk processing.

Reviews from locals echo that experience. Many mention coming back weekly, not because the place is trendy, but because it’s reliable. In a world where online reviews swing wildly, that kind of steady praise matters. One regular at the next table told me he brings visiting family here because he knows exactly what they’ll get every time. He described it as bold comfort without the guesswork, and that phrase stuck with me.

Service deserves its own moment. It’s friendly without being scripted. Staff members check in, answer questions honestly, and don’t upsell for the sake of it. That builds trust, and trust is everything in dining. Studies in hospitality management consistently show that genuine interaction increases repeat visits more than discounts or promotions. You can feel that principle in action when a server remembers a returning guest’s usual order or suggests a new item based on past choices.

The atmosphere matches the food. Clean tables, simple décor, and a layout that works whether you’re dining solo or with a group. Families, couples, and solo diners all seem equally comfortable. The background music stays low enough for conversation, which sounds small but makes a big difference. It turns a meal into a pause instead of a pit stop.

Locations matter too, and Imperial Beach adds to the charm. Being slightly removed from heavy tourist traffic allows the restaurant to cater to locals first, which often leads to better quality control. That’s something food critics frequently point out when comparing neighborhood diners to high-traffic spots. Still, it’s worth noting that peak hours can mean a short wait, and parking nearby isn’t always guaranteed. That’s a small limitation, but one worth knowing before you go.

What keeps pulling people back is the feeling that the place is run by people who care about the details. From menu balance to service rhythm, everything feels intentional. You leave satisfied, not just full, and already thinking about what you might order next time.

  • Ordering was different. Had never been before so we guessed our way to where we were supposed to order. Placed our order and sat to wait for food. We ordered Hawaiian Chorizo Tacos and some chips and salsa. Both were excellent!! Will for sure be returning.

  • A food gem in the Imperial Beach! Super nice place to sit down close to the beach and have a glass of draft beer with some delicious craft tacos! Loved the decor and super chill vibe. Service is outstanding, and the view of the ocean from the second floor seating is amazing Food tasted great as well! As a bonus it is kid and dog friendly!!

  • Incredible tacos at a great price. Came in on a cold Sunday afternoon tired and hungry. The restaurant is part of the brewery, so we were able to order at the bar. Service was fast, and we got our tacos in less than 5 minutes. Simply put, they were exquisite, and truly exceeded our expectations. My highest recommendation goes to this restaurant.

  • Great little spot. I have been by several times, but this was the first time eating there. The tacos were so delicious. I had the crispy shrimp, and a Hawaiian chorizo. The shrimp was served with bacon and cheese and was so good. The chorizo taco had pineapple, which was awesome. Everyone working there was very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back.

  • I had the SD Carne Asada and my wife got the surf and turf. Nice size but you will want to order 2 each. Pleasant patio to sit at while you eat your food. Lots of beer choices.

  • We visited this place on a long weekend while camping around. Loved their all vegan/ vegetarian tacos. I was on a strict diet but still couldn’t resist to have these twice within two days. My favorite was zuchini taco with capers and olives out of all. Highly recommend. We totally loved the outdoor vibes with bit of sun and games The Salas’s are the best too :)

  • So fun, glad we stumbled onto this place. After a walk on the Coronado beach, we decided to head south to IB. We checked out the menu on Google, as soon as I saw ossobuco taco I was sold. Parking in the lot by the restaurant was 2 bucks, score! It's a cash lot only FYI, and the lot was pretty dead despite the beach and boardwalk being full of people on a Friday evening. The restaurant is mostly outdoors, and they have upper patio seating to take in the view, the restaurant is super close to the shore. The entire staff was friendly, smiling, and so attentive. My husband tried a Japanese beer and he loved it, I got the Pina colada slushy, which was pretty good. But the tacos were out of this world, the ossobuco did not disappoint, so tender, so flavorful, and I think most of their tacos have that fried cheese in them. I also ordered a fish taco which was really crisp and fresh, but my husband's fried shrimp taco was unexpected. The shrimp was wrapped taquito-style then fried before added to the taco and dressed, crazy. Carne asada was tender and so well marinated, i could have eaten a plate of just that. We also had the sharable quesadilla which I highly recommend, the asadero cheese was fried and caramelized before it was put into the tortilla, which was also lightly grilled, it was mouthwatering! Two tacos each, a sharable quesadilla, and two drinks was like 55 bucks. I will be back, can't wait to try the carnitas taco.
